Jessica E. Vriend, LL.M., M.Leg.Sc., B.A.

Jessica E. Vriend is the 2016-17 articling student at Donnelly Law. Jessica received her Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School after completing her law degree at the Queen’s University of Belfast (QUB) in Northern Ireland. She completed her accreditation requirements for legal practice in Ontario in May 2016. Jessica also has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (with distinction) from Concordia University.

During her studies at Osgoode Hall Law School, Jessica was an author on the Canadian Civil Liberties Association – Pro Bono Students Canada blog, Rights Watch, researching and writing on civil liberties issues abroad. Her contributions include a critique of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement’s impact on the Maori’s Indigenous rights to traditional knowledge and plants under the Treaty of Waitangi and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. While completing her law degree in the United Kingdom, Jessica represented her law school at a major national mooting contest, the English Speaking Union (ESU) – Essex Court Chambers National Mooting Competition 2011-12.

After completing her law degree, Jessica worked as a Real Estate Administrator at Dalfen America Corp., an international real estate investment firm based in Montreal, Quebec, and with offices in Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, and Las Vegas, from 2013 to 2014. There she gained valuable experience drafting leases, construction contracts, and amendments, and assisting with the management of a significant portfolio of tenants, vendors, and contractors across industrial properties in the Midwestern United States.

Born and raised in Stratford, Prince Edward Island, Jessica enjoys spending time at the beach or walking the countryside whenever possible, and eating healthy doses of seafood (oysters) and potatoes. She enjoys cooking and maintains an active lifestyle, preferring to walk or cycle to get around the city.
